I also read Steve Tesich’s Karoo this summer. I read it in French, Anne Wicke’s translation of it.

I can only recommend this book to those who enjoy Roth, Easton Ellis and other American rock’n'roll fiction writers.

Karoo is a man we love to hate: a bad father, a rotten friend, a rascal. One day, illness strikes: sobriety! However much he drinks, he remains sober. So, to save face, he must pretend to be drunk.
